July 2010 Median Home Sales Prices in Region*

"CNN Breaking News: Existing home sales dropped 27 percent in July; effects of expired home buyer tax credit add turbulence to home market." The text message came from a friend this morning. I responded: "Locally, more standard sales are on the market and buyers are focused on low interest rates."
Nationwide statistics mean little to local home sellers and buyers. In our service area - Chino, Claremont, Fontana, La Verne, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland - the number of existing homes sold increased in five of the 19 Zip Codes and the median prices buyers paid rose in 11 of the Zip Codes, according to DataQuick, which gathers sales data from county records.
The chart below shows the median resale home prices in July 2010, June 2010 and July 2009. Also shown are the number of sales in July and in June of this year.
